Sarawak An attractive investment destination
02 July 2016
KUCHING: Sarawak`s abundant natural resources, favourable investment climate and political stability make the state an attractive investment destination for Chinese companies.

This was pointed out by the chairman of Taison Group, Wu Mingxi, during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem by a delegation comprising top executives from China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC Group) and Shanghai Taison Pulp-Making Group (Taison Group), in Petra Jaya, yesterday.

Among the delegation included the Chairman/Managing Director of Chong Kia Hoi Realty (CKH Realty) Dato Chong Kia Hoi, Taison Group Executive Director Ye Juegui and MCC Group Vice President He Kun Shan.

Wu confirmed their interest to invest in a pulp and paper processing plant to be built by MCC Group in Sarawak.

The pulp and paper factory would generate thousands of new jobs for locals and contribute to human capital development, technical skills and knowledge, he said.

Taison Group has 30 factories with over 13,000 employees globally involved in timber and forestry industries, pulp processing and paper manufacturing, packaging and fibre regeneration.

CKH Realty is the local partner of MCC Group, a state-owned Fortune 500 company engaged in property development, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

CKH Realty recently awarded MCC Group its maiden project in Sarawak - the RM105 million Metro City Square in Matang, Kuching.

Vice President of MCC Group He Kun Shan said MCC Group would be looking for further project opportunities to expand their business activities in Sarawak.

MCC Group brought in Taison Group,`one of China`s biggest companies involved in pulp processing and paper manufacturing, to invest in Sarawak.

The total investment sum is US$4 billion over a five-year period.
