KUCHING: More developers are requested to give back to the community by creating space for members of the public, especially youths, to hold activities together.
According to Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, there is a need for more places in the state where members of the public can get together and do things together.
He said it was important that the public have places to hold communal activities as such activities promote a healthy lifestyle and helps to foster ties between members of the community.
“I thank developers who have this realisation of providing space for the community where they are doing their development.
“It is very thoughtful of them to create such places for the people,” he added during the closing ceremony the `Break Off` event at Matang Metrocity here yesterday.
Fadillah mentioned his belief that the creation of such spaces could lead to the reduction of social problems in that particular area.
He also hoped that the youths in his Petra Jaya constituency will make good use of the facilities provided by the government which were aimed at harnessing their skills and talent.
“As a Sarawakian, I hope more talented Sarawakian youths would emerge and do us proud. The government is always ready to assist anyone who is talented in whatever they do, provided that they are also aware of the facilities provided by the government,” he said.
Also present during the ceremony was National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sarawak deputy director Kartina Ujin.
`Break Off` is an event organised by AADK for youths at Matang Metrocity with the support of government and non-governmental agencies.
